The just opened OchaDo 茶の道 near Sutera Mall is the only Johor franchisee of the famous bubble tea brand based in Kuala Lumpur. I am not really a bubble tea fan but was willing to give it a try when Chuky the boss of the JB OchaDo branch invited me to try his bubble tea. (Disclaimer: My only experience with bubble tea was some time ago when the young ladies at the office dragged us to try KOI during the bubble tea craze in Singapore. I enjoyed the company and was unmoved by the gimmicky drink :P )
OchaDo has ample comfortable seats for chilling out and chit chat with buddies while enjoying bubble tea and mille crepe cakes.
There are even cosy couches for people who like to curl up with a good book, magazine or surf the web on their tablets (with free wifi) while sipping bubble tea. OchaDo is also a good place to cool your heels after shopping in nearby Sutera Mall.
The friendly staff makes each cup of bubble tea.
We first tried OchaDo's Milk Tea (RM5.90 for large size). OchaDo's milk tea are brewed from tea leaves and not made with "instant tea" powders. I enjoyed the fragrance of green tea aroma.
At OchaDo we can choose the level of sugar that we want. OchaDo's Milk Tea was not overly sweet even though I chose the 50% sugar level. (The lowest sugar level is 0% i.e. no sugar.)
The gummy black jelly balls, or pearls as they are called, were fun to bite and nibble. I confess that even I enjoyed these :P
Chuky let us try OchaDo's "3Q Passionate Tea" made with passion fruit (RM6.90 for large size cup).
Sweet and sour, the ladies liked this "3Q Passionate Tea" a lot more than I do.
OchaDo's Fresh Milk Matcha (RM5.90). Again, this milk tea has a nice green tea aroma with the rich flavour and creaminess of fresh milk.
We had a slice of OchaDo Green Tea & Azuki Bean Crepe Cake (RM10.90). I love the refreshing green tea flavour and the airy and very subtly springy bite of the mille crepe cake.
OchaDo's chilled mille crepe cake was excellent.
This Hokkaido Chocolate Crepe Cake looked so enticing, I have to come back for this soon :P
I quite enjoy OchaDo's bubble teas and especially the mille crepe cake. I like it that I can choose the sugar level that I want from 100% to zero. I am glad to have bubble tea as an alternative option to the usual Western coffee chains for chilling out and for tea breaks.
