Thai Laksa @ Lim Hong Yong 林记 Stall in Taman Serene Food Centre (off Taman Pelangi), Johor Bahru

Lim Hong Yong 林记 is one of the many little stalls in the popular Taman Serene food centre off Taman Pelangi opposite the famous San Lou Seafood Restaurant.

Before I go on about  Lim Hong Yong 林记, I must mention that this humble looking food centre in Taman Serene is jammed packed with gems of hawker stalls. I will be making a few more trips to explore them all :)

Back to Lim Hong Yong 林记 which offers a wide range of popular fare like wanton noodles, Penang prawn noodles, fried kway teow and more.

Don't underestimate the tiny Lim Hong Yong 林记 stall, it sells the usual hawker fare but all with a little twist that makes all the difference.

Manning the frantic, steamy kitchen is Ah Kit 亚杰 who is the adopted son of the stall owner Ah Lim 亚林.

My friend Kumes strongly recommended Lim Hong Yong's Thai laksa.

Lim Hong Yong 林记's Thai laksa bee hoon comes loaded with ingredients submerged in spicy laksa gravy.

There are many laksa stalls in Johor and what sets Lim Hong Yong 林记's laksa apart is the slight tanginess in their laksa gravy. The laksa is rich with spices but not too lemak as it is not overloaded with santan (coconut milk). The spicy hot gravy has a tangy taste from squeezed calamansi juice, giving it its unique twist.

Come and try Lim Hong Yong 林记's unique Thai laksa. Maybe, you will like it as much as we did.
