Bunny Cake: How to Bake an Easter Bunny Cake

*From the Archives*

Every year for Easter I make the "Bunny Cake".

The munchkins all pitch in and we make it a family affair.  This takes mental preparation, since I know patience must be abundant when munchkins will be cracking eggs and working mixers.

But the tradition is cherished, and I'm gathering my sanity and my patience to bake this year's Bunny Cake in just a few hours.

And now, in pictures from previous years, how to make a "Bunny Cake":

You need one box cake mix and PLENTY of icing for decorating.  The more the merrier.  Gel Pens and sprinkles are useful as well.

Grease and flour 2 9" round cake pans.

Help munchkins prepare cake mix according to package directions.  Breathe and know it will all be okay.
Pour mixture into pans.  Bake accordingly.  Cool pans on wire racks.  Once cooled, carefully remove cakes from pans.

Cut one cake to make two bunny ears and bow tie.  Below is a very poor diagram I prepared in case you have never seen a "Bunny Cake":
Assemble "Bunny Cake" on large platter as shown below:
Decorate with munchkins and create a fabulous "Bunny"!

Mommyhood Footnote:  Bunny Cakes are fun for all, especially for Moms when chunks of cake fall off during assembly.

The extra icing comes in handy when you need to repair the many "boo boos" that will inevitably occur as you prepare the Bunny Cake.
